TYPES OF MIGRAINES

A migraine types are basically divided into two primary types but depending upon the intensity and symptoms, it might be further classified into secondary types. To understand better, let’s have look at the types of migraine.

A migraine with Aura-Aura is basically a warning sign, which helps you in being alert that a headache is headed your way soon.

The aura signs basically include confused thinking or experiences, observation of odd flashes of light, seeing zig-zag lines, blackouts or black spots in vision, feeling like needles being poked in arms or legs, the trouble of speech & horrible smells.

Other symptoms might include losing senses, extremely painful headache and vision issues etc. In case your vision is affected, you might hallucinate & see things that are not actually there as the visual field is disturbed. You might also not see objects for an instance but after a few moments, your vision field might display them to you, like after a bright camera flash exposure…

A MIGRAINE WITHOUT AURA

This is opposite of the aura one as you will not experience any warning signs before the pain starts i.e. it will happen suddenly. Almost 70% to 90% of the cases are without aura.

CHRONIC

In this, the attacks occur for over half a month while making the daily life really difficult for you.

MENSTRUAL

These mostly occur in women during their menstruation cycles, making it more difficult for them to handle.

HEMIPLEGIC

This leads to a weakened body on one side, temporarily.

ABDOMINAL

In this, the working of abdomen and gut is directly affected during the attacks. It is most commonly found in kids below fourteen years of age.

BRAINSTEM AURA

This is not common but if it happens, then the patient is known to suffer from neurological issues such as difficulty in speaking.

It is always advised to get in touch with your doctor and get yourself checked up in case any of the above problems occur. With this, you can not only control the issue before it grows but also avoid it in future.
